This course is to help build the leaders of the future, getting experience from every end of the working force.Being apart of this program is something I have wanted to do since I got here my first year. It was something I felt passionately about and felt was necessary to obtain the knowledge to further my personal and professional life.

Communicating with people is an essential skill that needs to be learned for this job. As being in the food industry the restaurant WOW Cafe is almost like a fast food restaurant where we take orders and serve them as quickly as we can. Computing quick math in your head is an essential skill while being able to remember who’s order is what, with what specific requests.While performing this job, it has shown me how being upbeat and positive can go a really long way into a conversation, even if it may be hard to do so. By doing this it creates an easier and more comforting conversation and that can give the customer an enjoyable part of the day as well as you.

Working with children age 5-14 on average to give them a fun and inviting experience to be apart of a larger group then they may be used to. Helping teach them life skills that will help them not just in the classroom but going through life. Showing an always open and fun attitude so that way if they either want to do something fun or talk one on one they know they won’t get turned away.Being apart of this wonderful organization during studies at school showed me how nobody is really who or what you think until you talk to them. A lot of children seemed to be very loud and disruptive until they were pulled aside. Doing this and briefly talking about the disruption, but then asking them how their day was or getting on their level to discuss issues or experiences they may have goes a long way. Most children don’t want to be disruptive on purpose so by addressing the issue and then getting their focus on a topic where it can be a big discussion or small one is better and you can learn more about them. This makes them think that even with some authority you can get on their level and relate with them to guide them in the right direction.

Responsible for prepping the field, locker rooms, coaches, officials, and dance teams trailers with food and water for games. Also prepping our many stations in our Fan Fest sponsor area and our own ticket, merchandise, and beverage stations. Helped schedule transportation for the team/staff to and from games/practice as well as provide an itinerary for the team to help keep them on schedule for game weekends. Sorted out different credit card purchases with information such as price, description of purchase, and company purchased from. All while doing these responsibilities I helped all other departments in coordination with each other to make sure that games, clinics, and marketing/media events go smoothly and that each department has what they need. Being apart of this company has been a great experience as they gave me the necessary skills to succeed in an enviroment comparable to any major league sports team. Working in the small front office gave me a behind the scenes look as to what is needed to run a team on a day to day basis. I was involved on many decisions and my input was considered on topics that I was able to share ideas upon. The people in this company are the best type of workers I have seen thus far. They prioritize the friendships they build in the office as much as the effort they demonstrate on a daily basis in their work. Everyone has a positive attitude even through challenging times.
