Six seniors chosen to participate in immersion program in partnership with Albany Medical Center and Albany Medical’s Biomedical Accelerator and Commercialization Center. Purpose of the program was to identifying problems with medical devices, technology, and procedures to be used as senior capstone project topics.• Rotated through various clinical departments including Gastrointestinal, Interventional Radiology, Dialysis, Cardiology, Orthopedics, Neurology, Anesthesiology, and Internal Medicine and Operating Room surgeries • Consult with doctors, nurses, technicians, and sales reps during procedures to gain insights on procedures, patient experience, devices, and places for improvement• Generated problem statements from observations/consulting and researched if any current technology or patents solved problem statement• Used research to rank personal problem statements, then presented problem statements to professors/program members to generate list of final project topics• Presented findings and project topics to group of doctors, nurses, and medical device start ups
