Teacher

Current

As an innovative educator, I led the charge in redesigning business education courses and assessments to emphasize current best practices that empower individuals to learn in the way that best serves them. By creating a student-centered learning environment, I was able to create a culture of success where every student had the opportunity to thrive.I am proud to be an active member of the Staff Collegial Council (SCC) since 2020. As part of this committee, I connect administration and teachers to guide the priorities of the school, with subcommittees that cover ProD, Budget, Technology, and other areas. By fostering collaboration and open communication, we have been able to make strategic decisions that positively impact both students and staff.Budget Committee Chair (2023-Present)I served as co-chair of Burnett's Professional Development Committee from 2019 to 2021. This committee brought together staff, administration, and district stakeholders to determine our school's needs and direction for professional development. We advocated for and delivered two impactful multi-session speaker series: the first was a district-wide series on Trauma-Informed education, and the second was a school-wide series to incorporate Anti-Racism practices in our school. These initiatives are the first steps towards a more inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students and staff.

Coordinator, Fishing Operations

Canadian Fishing Company (Canfisco)

Vancouver

My experience in Fishing Operations provided me with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience working through the commercial fishing supply chain. Whether I was trading Halibut Quota and Bycatch, coordinating on-ground packers for Herring Roe fisheries, or managing licenses for their owners, my ultimate goal was to balance the priorities of both fishers and the company. In addition to my day-to-day responsibilities, I took on several additional projects that contributed to the overall success of the organization. For instance, I created user-friendly vessel Profit and Loss statements while working closely with the Finance and I.T departments to ensure these reports could be easily replicated. Through extensive research on competitors and internal cost-cutting opportunities, I identified several areas where the company could optimize its operations.Furthermore, I collaborated closely with representatives from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, fishing companies, and independent fishers to help drive innovation and sustainability within the industry. By keeping a finger on the pulse of the latest industry trends and regulations, I was able to identify new opportunities for growth and success.
