I provided advice and support for Just Innovate, an entrepreneurial student venture located in Geneva, Switzerland. I advised on several big-picture strategies of the organisation such as central added value and marketability, scaling, and international expansion.

I caught the startup bug in 2012, when I co-founded a civic tech platform based in Switzerland aimed at bringing transparency and citizen-constituent communication back into politics.(It didn't work)But I learned startups are awesome, and there are ways to do it and ways not to do it. While I learned this, our team:- Raised 380k+ CHF of equity angel / FFF funding- Onboarded 33% of elected Members of the European Parliament as key users- Managed a team of 6 full-time staff and 100+ volunteers across 23 European countries- Developed key partnerships with the United Nations, United Kingdom government, and European Union- Won awards for innovation in government and citizen engagement across Europe

My baptism by fire in the journalism industry took place from 2007-2011. I worked mainly for three local print newspapers in northwest Pennsylvania under the Sample News Group: the North East News-Journal, the West County News-Journal, and the Corry Journal. Reporting, editing, photography, occasionally making an idiot of myself, and occasionally writing something good. This time included spending long nights and way too much time as the Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper at my campus at Penn State: the Behrend Beacon. In that role, I managed a team of 15 with over 50 regular reporters, and was responsible for editorial, strategy, advertising sales, printing, and distribution.
