After graduating from Loyola Marymount University with a relentlessly versatile English degree, I came to the startling conclusion that I had been speaking English for my entire life and so had everyone around me. I had not yet found my calling. An aptitude test shortly thereafter told me that my greatest strengths lie in number-pattern recognition and analytical reasoning - even though my diction and syntax are "off-le-chain" from years of pretending to understand Shakespeare. With little to no technological experience (I didn't even know that Excel could perform math functions), I enrolled at the Tech Academy began the seemingly monumental task of learning about the shiny boxes where Netflix resides. I learned about binary, different data types, and the importance of version control - but the most valuable items I picked up were how to understand/diagnose error messages and how to research the answers to the problems I don't yet know. I am currently looking for a team that I can help support and bounce ideas off of. Teamwork helps me retain and distribute information much more effectively. The only feeling better than fixing an error by myself is fixing an error message with colleagues. My fist pumps will evolve into high fives.
