Ireland & Nepal

The Umbrella Foundation (TUF) is a leading child rights INGO registered in Ireland and Nepal. They operate institutional care homes and foster placements; and youth development, family reunification and anti-trafficking programmes. TUF receive funding from several registered partners from around the world and work in collaboration with various partners in Nepal, including the Nepali Government. My responsibilities include minute keeping, report writing, ensuring legal compliance, and liaising between programmes, fundraising and board members. As part of the Executive Committee my responsibilities also include supporting fundraising efforts and international staff in Nepal.In May 2015 I returned to Nepal for two months to assume temporary responsibilities as acting Country Director in order to allow the two international team members to travel home to be with their families after the earthquakes. In addition to overseeing operations, my responsibilities included signing an agreement with UNICEF and overseeing the beginning of a joint Emergency Response Child Protection Programme.

After returning from Nepal I assumed the main responsibility for The Umbrella Foundation Ireland.- I oversaw and supported two international staff members based in Nepal - I was responsible for fundraising, networking and reporting to the Board of Directors in Ireland.

A large part of my responsibility included researching shortcomings in the organisation and liaising with international organisations and Nepali government bodies to address these. - Designed and developed Family Reintegration Programme- Designed and developed Child Protection & Development Systems.- Designed and developed Next Steps Youth Programme.- Developed organisation chart, took part in interview process for local team and staff capacity building for child care and project staff. I essentially worked myself out of a job through hiring and building capacity of Nepali NGO team.- Fundraised in excess of €100,000 through fundraising events and sourcing small grant opportunities.

I managed a varied case load of children living in the community and alternative care arrangements such as foster care and residential care. I offered counselling, emotional and practical support while utilising theories such as attachment systemic and resilience. I planned, delivered and evaluated systemic interventions for families and children as well as child-centred care plans. I was responsible for liaising with other agencies and professionals, including the courts, community groups, An Garda Síochana, schools and therapeutic services.

Social Work Team For Separated Children Seeking Asylum

Offering care and protection for children who have arrived from outside Ireland to apply for asylum and are separated from their parents or their legal/customary care giver.I worked with unaccompanied minors from a broad spectrum of backgrounds. My responsibilities included the placement of children into residential and foster care; assistance with asylum applications; family tracing; therapeutic work; organising child in care review meetings; and report writing.
