• IT infrastrucrure architect in IBM's Application Hosting Environment team with responsibility for designing and planning the IT infrastructure needs of IBM EMEA web applications. This involves deciding what IT infrastructure is required e.g. WebSphere application server and load balancer, DB2, MQ, PowerHA / HACMP, F5s load balancer devices and BlueCoat Proxies. I work with the application teams to plan the capacity needs of their application e.g. server processing power, network bandwidth, storage requirements etc. • Request server builds, assign IP addresses and decide which firewall rules are required.• Review the application architecture during application deployment and upgrades to assess whether it meets our web hosting standards and also how it can be deployed into the AHE environment.• Develop project plans and manage many projects simultaneously eg. hardware installs in datacentre ( TSM kit, F5s, routers ), OS (AIX and Linux) and middleware upgrades ( Websphere application server, websphere load balancers, HTTP, db2, MQSeries ). This requires strong multitasking, time management and organisational skills. • Interact with our support teams to coordinate and schedule the upgrades and assist with technical issues.• Liaise with multiple teams and individuals in my day to day role as it takes much cooperation and collaboration to support the web site infrastructure.• Write up architectural documents as needed on the web hosting environment architecture and configuration. • I have delivered training in my role as a subject matter expert for the IBM WebSphere Application software.

• Team Leader of the infrastructure team in IBM's application hosting environment ( AHE ). The team had 8 members and its duties included installing, configuring and maintaining OS and middleware on pSeries systems (P650s & P570s) and on F5s and BlueCoat Proxies.• Wrote procedures, assigned work and project managed the server builds and upgrades of servers. The environment consisted of approx. 200 servers.• Supported team members with technical questions and helped solve issues as they arose. • Assisted team members in relation to planning and prioritization of their work load. I provided ongoing feedback to team members on their performance.• Assessed the training needs of the team.

• 8 years experience as an IT Specialist in the AHE team, installing, configuring and maintaining AIX, PowerHA / HACMP, DB2, WebSphere application, WebSphere load balancer and MQSeries servers. I also installed and supported SUSE and RHEL HTTP servers. I was the subject matter expert (SME) for WebSphere application server software for my team. I was also on-call (24 x 7 rota) to resolve severity 1 OS and middleware incidents on the servers. • Assisted in configuring our virtualised server environment on Power 5 and Power 7 hardware using IBM Virtual I/O Servers (VIOS - virtualisation of SCSI, Ethernet and fibre adapters using NPIV).• Managed the SSL certs on our Websphere Application and http servers, ordering and installing the certs in our environment. • IT security was a priority and OS and middleware vulnerabilities were monitored and our servers upgraded accordingly. We also built our server environment to be compliant with IBM's internal security standard ( ITCS104 ). • Our server environment was monitored using IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM) and I also led a project to upgrade the ITM agents on our servers.• As part of my SME role for WebSphere Application server software I created scripts which reduced the time for software installation and configuration. • Any work that we carry out on AHE servers (installation, upgrades, problem resolution) is managed within the Change and Problem Management process with the aim of minimising service downtime for our client. We also work closely with service management to ensure customer satisfaction with the IT service.• Built and configured a Network Installation Manager ( NIM ) server which we use to install the base OS on new builds. I configured the nim master, lppsources and spot resources.
