This project consisted of identifying and analysing recombinant antibody fragments specific for HER2 for eventual incorporation into a revolutionary point-of-care device for prostate cancer diagnosis. Polyclonal and scFv antibodies derived from eggs were analysed using SDS-PAGE, Western blotting and various ELISA formats in order to determine best-performing clones. These clones were isolated using IMAC purification and tested by competitive ELISA to identify clones with highest efficacy towards HER2.

I was awarded a lucrative and highly sought-after placement in Ghent University Hospital. My project consisted of optimising expression levels of FFPE patient samples to determine optimal parameters. I also investigated the efficacy of mismatch blockers of allele-specific qPCR efficiency.
