I am a third-year undergraduate at UC Santa Barbara pursuing a B.S. in Chemistry and a B.S. in Pharmacology. I am very passionate about my studies and enjoy participating in cutting-edge research through UCSB’s Materials Department. In my research, I study the translation from polymer architecture to hydrogel tribological performance. I have experience with several different analytical methods for chemistry and materials, including micromechanical analysis, nanoindentation and UV Vis/IR/NMR spectroscopy. I am curious and always love learning new things.

I attended the national Beckman Symposium and networked with faculty, undergraduates, and post-doctoral researchers. I developed a research project investigating the mechanical properties of slide-ring polyacrylamide hydrogels and I presented these impactful research findings, employing public speaking techniques to effectively communicate complex concepts at several conferences, including ABRCMS.
Advised a set of 24 incoming STEM undergraduates on academics, course registration, and career planning. I enabled the networking and development of these students through creating workshops and career/academic events and assisted in the teaching of fast-paced linear algebra and calculus courses and supported the students through office hours.
I design and present four lecture-style tutorial sessions weekly and host office hours for general chemistry.
I investigate the role and effect of stimuli (light, pH, etc.) on the tribological properties of polymers. I also examine the chemical and mechanical interactions occurring at polymer interfaces that lead to certain lubrication behaviors. I have taught other undergraduate students lab techniques, lab protocols, and how to operate our lab's custom-built linear reciprocating tribometer - a complex instrument designed to probe the surface properties of soft-materials. I assisted in compiling our research into a peer-reviewed publication within my first year as an undergraduate. This work is done with Professor Angela Pitenis in the College of Engineering.
