About Conor Shields
I am Chief Executive of the Community Arts Partnership. I have the privilege to lead a dedicated team of artists, managers, mentors, trainers and co-ordinators, providing advocacy programmes, information and training services and seven separate community and schools-based arts projects across Northern Ireland, including PICAS, the Programme for Intercultural Arts Support.I'm a multi-instrumentalist, a sometime poet and film maker and have worked with theatre companies, broadcast media and film, development education and community development agencies, and as an arts practitioner, have facilitated workshops through a range of disciplines in theatres, community settings, schools and prisons. I've helped devise and lead a range of festival, research and development programmes both at home and abroad. Along the way, studying Law, Politics and Business Management at London School of Economics, University of Ulster and Cass Business School respectively.I have been a ministerial appointment to the board of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland as well as the Ministerial Arts Advisory Forum and sit on both the Arts Council of Northern Ireland’s Intercultural Arts Steering and Community Arts Strategic Review Groups. I co-chaired the Arts Policy Forum, chair the NICVA Departmental Monitoring Group (DCAL), am still a founding director of Culture Night Belfast, sit on the board of the Cathedral Quarter Trust and is also a founding steering group member and convenor of #ArtsMatterNI. I do also have a rich and varied family and social life. I'm frequently quite tired of a Friday night mind you!!
