Key Projects:I was chosen to write the back-end C++ code-base for a brand-new product within the FactSet Workstation, this application allows users to retrieve Economic Estimates, which previously was not available. I worked with many stakeholders, product developers and consultants to meet the clients’ specific needs to create high-performing fetch code to service the front-end application. This project lasted 2 years and has recently been released to FactSet Research Systems Inc.’s clients.Over the past year I have been actively involved in the re-write of my teams’ Financial Solutions Calculation Engine from a legacy In-House database technology serviced via a C++ code-base to a brand-new MSSQL Database serviced via C#.Net. A lot of time was spent in the research phase, analysing the performance of the current C++ code-base and restructuring complex algorithms to out-perform within C#. Alongside my time being spent in developing features within the new code-base, I have taken a lead role in pushing for Test-Driven development throughout the project and provided engineers with a framework that allows them to easily create tests before developing new features.Due to the critical requirement to provide accurate Financial Data to clients; I was chosen to write, from scratch an Integration Test Framework. The framework automates the whole testing process; using static data composed by the test author, the test-framework stores a library of tests in JSON format, automates the generation and loading of in-house and MSSQL databases cross-platforms and executes comparison tests, The framework runs alongside our in-house build system and halts the build, produces a report of failures and sends a notification to relevant stakeholders with relevant information regarding the failure. This project has helped ensure the new re-written Financial Solutions Calculation Engine is reliable and accurate as it expands its role in replacing the legacy Engine.

Key Projects:Within Equity Benchmarks - Exchanges, I was heavily involved in the retrieval, modification and storage of third-party data from various sources within Exchanges across Americas, Europe and Asia. My largest project during my time within the team was re-writing database update systems alongside the calculation framework for the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange), Istanbul Stock Exchange and Weiner-Borse Exchange (Austra). Utilising various technologies focusing on Perl, XML, Bash, DCL, JAMS and in-house database technologies for storage. As a result of the internal efforts to improve the performance of back-end systems at FactSet Research Systems Inc., I have been heavily involved in the process of re-writing, refactoring and porting code from the old OpenVMS operating system to the newer RedHat Linux OS. This has involved researching modules, technologies and methodologies to ensure cross-platform compatibility within a single code-base. Re-writing update scripts from DCL to Bash/Ruby and testing the new systems as well as modifying our back-end C++ Financial Solutions Calculation Engine. This effort is of a large-scale and has been underway since 2011 to present.
