After leaving Dr. Challoner's Grammar School in 2017 I started an undergraduate degree in Accounting and Financial Management (BSc) at Loughborough University. I loved Loughborough and still do but my 4 years there weren't without challenges and obstacles. Challenges that have helped me learn more about myself than my degree could have ever taught me. Whilst undertaking my 4-year program with a year in industry at Cooper Parry, I developed resilience and learned to take care of myself and looked towards helping those around me whenever possible.During my years at Loughborough I rediscovered my love for team sport and began to truly understood its important role on my wellbeing. I also read more and more about mental health, specifically anxiety and depression, with the intention of helping understand both my own and other people's struggles. I like to fundraise for mental health charities such as Calm and MIND, running a Tough Mudder and taking part in Movember during my time at university. Towards the end of my degree, I had learned valuable skills for business and experienced a valuable year in the industry of Audit and Tax... but I wasn't satisfied with that. I decided I needed to pursue my new found passions of mental health, wellbeing and the power of sport.That brought me to Loughborough University London to study for a masters degree in Sport Business and Leadership (MSc). This is by far the best decision I have made in my life so far and I am enjoying reading around the importance of leadership in sports organisations as well as important topics such as sustainability, sports integrity, innovation technologies and equality and diversity. Most recently I have undertaken a Collaborative Project with Sports Interactive looking at social media discourse regarding women's football which has been fascinating. I am now researching for my dissertation around defining wellbeing and developing a nuanced framework for the term, which can be used in education for businesses, sports teams and schools. This project is in collaboration with Global Sports and the Wellbeing Science Institute and I am grateful to both of them for their ongoing support.
