About Conor Larocque

Bringing 16 years of customer service, technical analysis, consultancy and diagnostic experience to the Information Technology Industry. From an ISP technician earlier in life, to working with Agriculture Canada on their Windows 7 roll-out during college, to now enterprise tier 2-3 support and beyond; I continue to develop, hone as well as build upon technical and client communication skills within the IT field. With managerial, team lead and customer service experience from retail electronic sales, working within a team environment is where I feel the most comfortable. A team being lead by a good leader is important, and I do strive to be one myself. To what capacity, there's nowhere to go but up. Communication, professionalism, teamwork as well as the ability to follow specific steps accurately and without deviation is extremely important, specifically when working on very large, tedious and essentially the foundation of a business' infrastructure. This is the mindset one requires when working within this industry, but it is experience and surrounding yourself with the proper people and tools that builds it. My goal in life is to lead. I have a passion for people, learning and being the person Everyone feels comfortable approaching with questions to help provide or search for the answers. Conor Larocque

Information Technologist & Project Manager

Eversharp Computing Solutions

Lloydminster, Ab

Head of sales & marketing when the company first started. I ran the entire IT side of the company, and worked heavily in client relations, office management, desktop support (residential and commercial), website design (GUI assisted), domain and email hosting, cloud services, and everything in between. I marketed, sold and created the product that we offered our clients. I custom built many high-end PCs for customers with this company, as well as remotely managed high-end servers and desktops for our commercial clients using remote assistance & monitoring programs such as LogMeIn and TeamViewer. I worked heavily with Microsoft Windows 7, 8.0, 8.1 and Windows 10 as well as Server editions from 2000 up to 2012 R2.Not only was I head of everything technical, I also personally advertised our services to business clients via social media, telephone and drop-ins. All clients I supported I also presented, discussed and sold the support contract(s) to. All the computers I custom built I sold in the beginning as well. This offered an entirely different level of service to our clients. Think of it as if the person who built your car was also the person who sold it to you and continues to provide you with support and repairs in the future. That is how I did things with Eversharp Computing Solutions. We decided to close the company in Lloydminster, Alberta because of economical issues February of 2016. We lost a lot of business clientele because of failing oil industry and felt that loss heavily because of how new we were. Simply put: we were in the right place at the wrong time.

Office Administration / It

Excel Oil & Water Hauling

Lloydminster, Ab

Started in a position inputting ticket data, creating large invoices and some accounting for the company. After being approached to assess the current IT needs of this (at the time) growing company, I was put in charge of a project to custom build, setup and implement a domain network and file server for this office. This involved myself going through what any outside company would need to do to ensure that proper equipment is purchased, and the server is set up in a way that is both functional but also not overwhelming to a small business. Fail-safe operations were implemented greatly. I did so successfully, and maintained that network until all that was required was off-site monitoring and maintenance. I ran Windows Server 2012 R2 on that machine, with a RAID 10 configuration & 2 Intel Xenon processors. I also installed an 8 Camera CCTV system for this company for security and remote viewing, as well as a UPS backup system for the server, network switch and camera PVR to continue security and lower the risk of equipment damage during a power failure/brown out. The cameras were wired cameras with coax and power going to each location. I wired this system entirely right down to installing the brackets on the wall and routing all cabling to the PVR.While this experience did not attribute to my team work skills, this did increase some technological skills with the Windows server environment greatly, as well as communication & bargaining skills when purchasing all equipment and discussing budgets with owner/operators of the company.

Sales Associate/Floor Manager

Future Shop

New Minas, Ns

I worked part time in the beginning with Future Shop while working at Agriculture Canada and going to University. When my program with Agriculture Canada ended, I went to full time at Future Shop and was promoted to part time floor manager. I was mainly in the Computer department both in sales and management, as well as assisting the Tech Room staff (repair bench) when required. While in sales for this company I was rated number 1 in the store on multiple occasions in sales, highest customer satisfaction, and lowest return rate. I also kept in touch with clients for following up after a sale was complete in order to completely ensure customer satisfaction. My skills in sales, team work, management and customer relations were greatly added to while working with this company. I also worked with Future Shop in Charlottetown, PE over the Christmas Holidays one year while attending High School (2007-2008), and loved it so much that I pursued working with them yet again when settled in Nova Scotia. During my time here I also attended the "Future Leaders" program which is a voluntary training course sales staff can take in order to be more qualified for management positions. This course taught us customer relation techniques, management techniques, client resolution practices, etc. I left Future Shop when school was ending, and proceeded to make my way into Alberta to start a career that exercised my IT skills more than what Future Shop could.

Information Technologist

Charlottetown, Pei

Working through the FSWEP (Federal Student Working Experience Program) during my time at Holland College on PEI and at Acadia University in NS, I was part of the IT staff on a support level. Responsibilities included blackberry support, windows server support & repair, desktop/workstation support & repair, backup maintenance, server maintenance, Microsoft applications support (Windows, Office, etc.) printer installation & maintenance, and network infrastructure maintenance. While working with Agriculture Canada I was involved with the Windows XP to Windows 7 upgrade that was on a federal level. It was a massive project that involved extensive team work, communication and technological skills. Communicating with people all over the country regarding software to use, what is working, what is not working, etc and having tight deadlines made the environment very fast paced and hard working. It was an amazing project to be a part of and improved all my skills involving team work, time management, communication and patience greatly.I also was part of a server upgrade for one of the offices in Truro, Nova Scotia. We upgraded not only the hardware but the software of a file server connected to a separate domain server and separate disk array as well. While working at the Kentville, Nova Scotia location I was also part of a small project to upgrade all 10/100 switches to 10/100/1000 versions. All switches connected via Fiber-over-copper connections and programming was done on-site as well. This added to my networking skills greatly.
