As Dispatch Manager, I managed a team of dispatchers responsible for coordinating flight operations at a large helicopter company based in southeast Alaska. Responsibilities included ensuring procedural compliance and promoting a safe and efficient work environment. I was also responsible for maximizing company assets by determining cost-efficient use of aircraft and staff. In addition, I was instrumental in developing improvements to Temsco’s scheduling system and dispatch procedures in an effort to accommodate increased passenger loads and a changing industry environment. Other responsibilities included assisting other members of management in supervising tour operations when required. This included resolving passenger or employee disputes, supervising passenger loading and customer service, coordinating ground transportation for passengers, building and maintaining relationships with clients and vendors, and bookkeeping and accounting.

As Operations Supervisor, I was responsible for supervising approximately 120 driver-guides and dock representatives at a large transportation and tour division of Holland American-Princess. Based in Juneau, Alaska, Holland-America Princess provides service to several major cruise lines and many local tour companies, moving up to 10,000 passengers in a day. I was charged with processing tour and transfer requests, scheduling drivers and routes, and executing timely trip departures and returns with limited interruptions. When Gray Line of Alaska merged with Princess Tours in 2007, I was instrumental in developing a flexible scheduling system with the capacity to handle the combined client load.Responsibilities also included direct supervision of operations in the field. This involved coordinating dock departures and returns, accommodating requests by vendors and cruise line representatives, resolving passenger, client, and employee issues without disruption to service, and maintaining a safe and professional work environment. Ultimately, the highly varied and specialized needs of passengers and clients required that I adopt any role necessary in order to fulfill obligations and provide superior service.
