I think there are a lot of great practises in software development, but I subscribe to the boy scout’s rule first – leave the place better than you found it.I’m an experienced software engineer with experience across the full software stack. I strongly believe that have a well-rounded understanding of the different disciplines, is essential to being a great developer.I recently helped to push my team towards a continuous delivery model of software development. By utilising technologies such as Windows Subsystem for Linux and Docker I was able to create a production-like environment for our developers.During this process I moved our builds from Jenkins to CircleCI. I was able to improve the testing times significantly by running our tests in parallel on CircleCI. Importantly the business was not impacted as I was able to keep the older system available during the project.I’m also very proud of the work I have done in expanding database support. I was able to research design, plan and implement a project to include PostgreSQL support on AWS for a customer.
