I am currently a copy editor and columnist at China Daily. I am also working on a PhD in history part-time via the University of London. Previously I taught history and political science at Beijing 101, a top high school in Beijing, and at the New Oriental Foreign Language School in Yangzhou. I pursued a master’s degree and started my PhD while teaching a full load of classes that I designed myself based on contemporary academic research, and continue to work on my PhD while transitioning into journalism, where I have contributed to a busy newsroom with research and writing while developing specialized knowledge of the Chinese economy, Chinese popular culture and the country’s media environment. I am highly self-motivated, creative, analytical, and have excellent research and oral and written communication skills, as well as a broad understanding of the humanities and social sciences and world and Chinese current events. I excel at independent project management, collecting and processing large quantities of complex information, and presenting new arguments and perspectives in easily digestible form to both lay and specialist audiences.
