9th February 1989 Train driver Assistant and finished 30th June 2008 as Train Driver.I studied in my own time to do the theoretical of the train driver exams, passed it, and then I then started to do the practical phase of the exams. I passed the practical assessment on goods trains, after which I became an operating train driver. I took up my grade as train driver at Metrorail where I was selected to train new train drivers during their practical phase.I started as Train driver at Rail Road Logistics (RRL-Grindrod, now Grindrod Rail Operations) at Afrisam, Ulco, , where I am still working at the moment. Whilst at RRL, I also obtained my Airbrake qualification, in order to operate air braked trains, and shunting of air braked rail vehicles.
