I worked @ Sargent & Lundy out of their Chicago, Illinois headquarters as a Structural Engineer in their Fossil Power Technologies Division. The first project I worked on was a Wet FGD Environmental Retrofit for KCPL. It was located at the La Cygne Generating Station in La Cygne Kansas and S&L worked with Kiewet Construction as an EPC contractor. My role in that project was doing the Structural foundation and pile designs for various Structures. Structures worked on included a Chimney, two Absorber Units, an Absorber Building, a Limestone Prep Building, an Office Maintenance Building, a Gypsum Dewatering Building, and various Tanks, Silos, and Transformers associated with those Buildings.The second project worked on was for Cleco at the Dolet Hills and Rodemacher Power Plants in western Louisiana. In this project, S&L worked as the Owner's Engineer. I then worked on two Fossil FGD projects the Pawnee Generating Station in Colorado for Xcel Energy and Powerton Generating Station in Illinois for Midwest Gen. In both of these projects, I primarily worked on Steel Utility Racks and minor Structures in addition to their foundations.The final project I worked on was the Ras Al-Kahir Power & Desalinization Project in Saudi Arabia. S&L is working as the Contract Engineer for SEPCOIII who is acting as the Owner's Engineer on this project. I worked on both the Superstructures and Foundations doing amongst other Buildings the Central Control Building, the Demineralization Plant, the Chiller Plant Structure, and various Pipe Racks. Each of the non-Pipe Rack Buildings and Structures were Concrete Moment Frames primarily comprised of reinforced concrete beams and columns with Steel Trusses and a composite diaphragm on the roof levels.

PS12 is single section of Whiting Refinery with new Vacuum Structure and Tower, new Fractionator Structure, new Heaters and their Piperacks and Equipment. Individually responsible for the Engineering and Design of Mat Foundations, Pump Foundations, Exchanger Piers, and Fractionator Structure in the Refinery. In addition to Engineering and Design Work, other project duties involve distribution of Stress Iso drawings. Texas Tech University- Recruited students from Texas Tech to work for Fluor. Went to Semester Job Fairs in 2008 and additional meetings about Fluor. In addition to the recruitment drive, other duties included being a liason for the Texas Tech ASCE chapter.

Worked in conjunction with Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) doing the Structural Analysis of Vehicles in excess of 120,000 lbs. across SHA-Owned Bridges and Escortment of Vehicles in Excess of 200,000 lbs. across SHA-Owned Bridges. During internship, learned about Bridge Design based on H-20, HS-20, HS-25, and T-3 Trucks in addition to design of structural members for small scale structures (Bridges, Boardwalks, etc.).

Intern responsibilities included plotting road cross sections for planning cut and fill purposes, calculation of storm water management pond volumes, drafting of storm water sewer profiles on AutoCAD, and Elevation Checks for Sewer Design purposes.
