The company's main activity is production of high quality frames for chairs and sofas. This included procurement of raw materials, industrial processing including cutting, bending, sanding, grinding, drilling, painting, mounting, and quality assurance as well as packaging of the finished product. My duties were to keep close contact with clients, suppliers, freight forwarders, the sales department, and warehouse employees. I was to monitor the completion and shipment of deliveries as well as receive incoming product, inform clients of discrepancies and correlate quantities as requested, purchase necessary raw materials, book transportation, manage stock arrangement, manage work distribution between warehouse employees, and input reception, shipping, and stock data into Microsoft Navision.

My internship in the After Sales/Quality Assurance Department consisted of processing of clients quality issues via SAP, validation or rejection based on evidence, and physical inspection and arrangement based on reason of returned or warranty items. I was also tasked with monitoring and comparing of stock levels continuously in small parts storage based on information received from the inventory management department.

My internship consisted of assisting a lean manufacturing specialist in organizing the warehouse setup and processes to correspond to lean principles. The departments in which most of the internship mentioned was held were reception, small parts storage, and shipping. Close contact with warehouse employees was a crucial element in order to receive feedback and gradually involve workers in the implementation of change, which is always a tough barrier to conquer.
