Most carriers are following the UPS model of shipping which takes dimensions as seriously as weight. Standard pallets 48x40x48 will usually not be re-classed if the class used fits the commodity being shipped. However, when the dimensions of a shipment go beyond standard dimensions, the class changes upward and suddenly the commodity you thought had a standard class has changed to one that costs more. This is being done to maximize profit by charging more for the cubic feet of space your shipment takes up on the truck. We got you covered.
