I stepped into a leadership role over 15 years ago when hired as program coordinator for a newly formed bachelors program at UNT Dallas, the Human Services Management and Leadership (HSML) Bachelor’s degree. From the start, I worked to establish the human services program, and I continue to work aggressively to build the relevance of community-based service with local service providers so that students have exceptional, enriching experiences during their internships and practicum assignments. I joined the university in 2006 as the program coordinator for the HSML program, and now the dean of the School of Human Services. I endeavor to provide the kind of leadership that aligns with the mission of the university--empower studentsthrough education, transform lives, and strengthen our communities. As a minority leader, and female administrator, I continually search for experiences that promote professional and personal growth, enhances leadership skills, expands my global vision, and ultimately positions me for distinct ways to build strong collaborative partnerships and initiatives that changes my world for the better.
