I hold an MD and an MPhil and am starting work as a resident physician at UCSF June 2021. I am a recent graduate of Harvard Medical School and was in the joint Harvard-MIT Health Science and Technology program (took an extra year for research). My overarching goal is to become a physician scientist who excels at both clinical duties and research.Before medical school, I majored in Chemistry at Pomona College with a focus on biochemistry, and graduated first in my class in 2014. For my senior thesis at Pomona, I worked on developing a novel Raman-spectroscopy-based system as a new tool for diagnosing pulmonary diseases. After graduating, I obtained a master's degree (MPhil) at the University of Cambridge in Peter Leadlay's laboratory, where I conducted independent research on natural products in order to understand new ways to develop and engineer novel antibiotic compounds. While applying for medical school, I worked for a year as a technician in Rusty Lansford's laboratory at the Saban Research Institute/Children's Hospital Los Angeles. At Harvard Medical School, I worked in the Henske laboratory at Brigham and Women's Hospital to study tuberous sclerosis, and also received the Samuel E. Lux fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital to study metastatic melanoma in the Zon laboratory. I also worked for 2MinuteMedicine to create Visual Abstracts on important medical literature, and also worked on various graphic design projects during the COVID-19 pandemic, including co-publishing a children's book titled "Ramona and Iris... and the Coronavirus" with a fellow classmate. I graduated from HMS in May 2021 with honors.I look forward to serving patients as a physician and care about science, learning education, and medicine.

Towards this end, bio-informatics work was conducted to identify a gene cluster for an iron-chelating siderophore, and the production of a siderophore was verified experimentally. -
