Upon joining Heritage in August 2010, I overhauled the organization's website, launched e-commerce functionality, developed email marketing campaigns, and initiated proactive media outreach. Using social media and flash sale promotions through Living Social and Google Offers, I have helped increase Heritage's membership and have considerably raised the organization's profile. My early work included the completion of a member survey, which resulted in the return of Heritage's newsletter to quarterly print publication. I serve as editor of sfheritage.org, the Heritage News print newsletter, and three email marketing campaigns. I design graphic materials for events using the Adobe Creative Suite. I coordinate partnership opportunities to leverage the audiences of like-minded organizations. I also staff the Board of Directors' Membership Committee and provide monthly communications reports to the Board.

The Los Angeles Conservancy is a nonprofit membership organization that works through education and advocacy to recognize, preserve, and revitalize the historic architectural and cultural resources of Los Angeles County. As the Conservancy’s communications coordinator, I garnered public support for historic preservation issues and programming through proactive community outreach and strategic press coverage. I maintained the media database and overhauled the organization’s press clipping system to make articles digitally accessible. I edited internal and external documents for consistency and to simplify technical issues for public audiences. I served as the media point-person and pitched breaking news items and features to magazines, daily and weekly newspapers, radio and television stations and blogs. I coordinated press interviews with executive staff and developed accompanying materials. I booked speaking engagements and created relevant presentations and handouts. I worked with partners to launch national media campaigns and coordinated media outreach and information sharing. I created and managed Facebook and Twitter platforms that grew to 5,000 fans and 500 followers in the first year. I served as the content manager and editor of laconservancy.org, Conservancy E-News and Conservancy News. I received the Los Angeles Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America’s Trevett Award in 2009.

I served as a Public Information Office intern, City Council Public Information intern and as an interim Public Information Officer during my tenure with the City of Phoenix. I helped develop comprehensive public information programs for six departments and eight City Council members. I analyzed department programming to determine if media outreach or community education was necessary to further the objectives of the department. I assisted with press events with important dignitaries and City Council members. I wrote, edited and proofed materials client departments and provided support to other departments as necessary. As the production assistant for the City Council members’ On the Issues program, I confirmed shooting locations and guests, and wrote scripts. I also helped City Council office staff manage logistics for off-site district events.
