About Constance Miller
As a lawyer for over 30 years and a mediator for 20 of those years, I am motivated by the challenges and opportunities to solve new and complex legal problems. My early work experience in financial services impressed upon me the value of excellent customer service and the importance of attention to detail. Encouraged by a colleague to attend law school, I found I could combine my curiosity and passion for learning with strategic problem-solving that would help people and improve their circumstances. My legal career brought unique opportunities with cases of first impression and that made a profound difference in people’s lives. My business and legal experience earned me the opportunity to pilot and manage an innovative dispute resolution program for lawyers and clients. Managing the program was similar to running a business start-up – it required resourcefulness, budgeting, foresight, focus, and interpersonal skills to ensure the program’s rapid and continuing success. Each year, my staff and I received over 40,000 calls from people throughout the world, whose legal matters covered all areas of law practice and who needed assistance in communicating and working with their legal counsel. This experience broadened my perspective about dispute resolution and challenged me to master the skills of conflict resolution. Because I am inspired to help people solve legal problems and by challenges that make a difference and improve people's lives, I created “Our Peace Projects”, the first of which is “Mediation Mastery”. In this program I help busy lawyers save time, money, and energy with stress-free preparation techniques and proven negotiation strategies that achieve best possible solutions in court-ordered and voluntary mediations.Specialties: • Negotiation, conflict resolution, and mediation.• Synthesizing, simplifying, and communicating information so that others understand what is important.• Building rapport and trust in relationships.• Collaborative and creative problem solving.• Business acumen applied to sound decision-making and legal strategies.• Writing for and speaking to audiences interested in conflict resolution.
Listed skills include Litigation, Legal Writing, Legal Research, Synthesizing, and 3 others.
