Responsible for leading the copywriting team for merchandising operations. Our team was responsible for providing Chewy-voiced catalog copy for all new products published to Chewy.com as well as updates for existing products. Tasked with keeping content consistent and informative, ensuring accuracy, and protecting brand voice throughout. Duties included managing the team of writers, training and mentoring new writers, acting as lead writer on various projects, and enacting content directives from upper management.

Projects have included articles, white papers, bank books, and promotional brochures for B2B and B2C marketing. Skills include SEO copywriting, technical writing, web content creation, and publicity and branding for local and national businesses. I specialize in researching and explaining difficult to understand concepts in finance, tech, healthcare, and science.

Researched and created the entire content of the site from scratch for the community. The site is intended as a nexus of information for both new and established residents. It provides an introduction to the neighborhood, a detailed history of it, a tour of architectural styles, as well as more practical information such as how to get involved in the community, voting information, local businesses, etc. My duties in administering this site include writing, research, calendar upkeep, and ongoing dialogue with the community so that the site contains features its users find useful.

I have worked as a bartender at MJQ for decades, moving to a part-time role in the last few years as I've pursued other opportunities as a professional writer. In addition to my years of high-volume bartending experience at this legendary nightclub/music venue, I acted as head bartender/bar manager for a number of years. My contributions in that role included initial design and setup of the workspace behind the bar, choosing liquors and other beverages for the bar, setting prices according to our cost-to-markup ratio, and reordering both the main and café bars for optimal functionality after renovation. My responsibilities also included training new bartenders, scheduling shifts, and writing employee communications, including handbooks and training materials.

Helped create a brand identity for a new bar and restaurant in Atlanta leading up to their opening. Assisted their publicist by helping with press features and writing copy for their website and social media.

The American director of this project liked my work as a writer and offered me a position as editor of dialogues for all subsequent projects. My duties as editor included seeing that all specified parameters were met, correcting grammar and spelling errors, and rewriting where necessary for fluency and clarity.

Writing dialogues between a traveler and a native according to various pre-specified parameters. The project was conducted by a computer science team in Japan, whose goal was to write an English translation program as a learning tool for Japanese students of English. Natural-sounding language, controlled use of colloquial language, and complexity of sentences were among the variables they sought with the raw dialogues. The set parameters varied with each project and so provided extensive practice in different styles of writing.

Worked with a small team to design a gravity-powered wind tunnel-type testing apparatus using water instead of air. The water tunnel was conceived as an alternative to wind tunnels to test airfoil shapes in the lab. My duties included assisting in design of the water tunnel, calculations, object testing, and written summaries of the project's progress.
