Working with the city’s arborist, and other planning staff, I looked at short plat applications across every city neighborhood. I followed 159 lots through the development process, to evaluate the effectiveness of city regulations in retaining and encouraging replanting of trees. My project involved a process of prework, field data collection, verification, and analysis. I presented a comprehensive report to the City Council; complete with original graphics, an extensive database, and a summary of my research and recommendations. To complete my study I became familiar with using EnerGov, reading various construction documents, permit applications, and arborist reports.
