Constanza Castro is a Mexican producer, director, and co-founder of 271 Films. She received her BFA from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and her master’s degree in Film Producing at The American Film Institute, where she was the first woman recipient of the full-ride Jeffrey Katzenberg Fellowship Award as well as the AFI scholarship. On the film side, her company 271 Films partnered with Lena Waithe’s Hillman Grad Productions and Indeed to produce 10 films helmed by BIPOC directors that premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival. The Indeed Rising Voices mentorship lab is now going into its third season, with Constanza leading alongside Doménica the development, production, and post-production of all ten films. The shorts films have a distribution deal with Amazon. In addition to this lab, Constanza has produced numerous award-winning film projects, commercials, music videos, and branded content featured on MTV, The New Yorker Screening Room, Nylon, Vice, BET Networks, HBO, and Adweek, as well as prestigious film festivals including Sundance, AFI Fest, Tribeca Film Festival, Cleveland International Film Festival, Aspen Shortfest, Palm Springs Short Fest, to name a few. Constanza made her co-directorial with WE ARE HERE, which world premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival. The film’s reception has been successful and the film is going on a festival run at the Nantucket Film Festival, Cleveland International Film Festival, LACMA shorts, Hollyshorts, LALIFF to name a few. On the television side, Constanza produced with her sister Season 3 of a Netflix Docuseries. In 2021, Constanza and her sister Doménica were honored as the Nevada Women Filmmakers of the Year. Alongside her sister, Constanza runs 271 Films’ growing slate of short and long-form content in film, TV, and advertising. She is drawn to stories that push culture forward and spotlight marginalized communities.
