I started my scientific career in Senegal where I performed field work on mosquito larva and adult sampling. During my Master degree, I validated dynamic maps of risks of Rift Valley Fever by providing data on mosquito vectors’ density, spatial distribution, and intensity contact with their domestics hosts. From 2 years I contributed to malaria vector control in Senegal.From 2012 to 2015 during my PhD: First, I performed molecular diagnostic of fleas collected on Reunion Island for the presence of Rickettsia and Bartonella species.Second, I established and maintained an Anopheles gambiae and Aedes albopictus colonies in URMITE laboratory. I demonstrated that Anopheles gambiae mosquitoes, the primary malarial vectors in sub-Saharian Africa, have the potential to be vectors of Rickettsia felis. This is particularly important given the recent report of high prevalence of Rickettsia felis in patients with “fever of unknown origin” in malaria-endemic areas.Third, I used Mass Spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) for mosquito vectors aquatic stage identification but also for identification of blood meal sources in malaria vectors.From November 2015-November 2017, I worked at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, France, as a Postdoc researcher where I demonstrated the impact of Trypanosoma parasite ingestion on the vectorial competence of Anopheles mosquitoes. In addition, I worked with infection of glossina by Trypanosoma mutants.
