I was responsible for the Commercial management of one of the UK’s largest privately owned engineering businesses, serving the Transport & Infrastructure and Energy & Industrial sectors. Spencer Group employs over 400 staff with an annual turnover currently in excess of £110m.My key roles and achievements included:•Involved in the negotiation and delivery of two of the largest Contracts undertaken by the business in its history•Management and close out of difficult legacy issues and projects ensuring positive outcomes for Spencer Group•Member of the Executive Board with oversight over Commercial, Procurement and Finance functions. •Developed new systems to ensure detailed preparation, implementation and subsequent monitoring of the annual and project specific budgets to ensure that budget targets are met•Identification and implementation of new roles and team members including significant investments in training and team development•In conjunction with the Executive Board, expanded the capability and efficiency of the business into the Energy from Waste sector •Involved in the implementation of new IT and innovation to aid the Commercial management of the business including online Subcontract management tools and Earned Value Reporting•Winner of Hull Daily Mail Large Business of the Year 2017•Delivered numerous large Infrastructure projects including involvement in the closure of the award winning £40m East Kent Re-Signalling Project

Responsible for the strategic management of an award winning building contractor operating in the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire regions, including full P&L responsibility. Hobson & Porter employs over 135 direct staff with an annual turnover currently in excess of £50m.I was also responsible for a company review and restructuring exercise which stabilised the business’s position following my promotion to the role. My key roles and achievements include:•Increase in turnover from £40M to £50M•Management and close out of difficult legacy issues and projects ensuring positive outcomes for Hobson & Porter•Preparing the annual business plan and monitor progress against this plan ensuring that the Company attains its objectives.•In conjunction with the Financial Director, preparation, implementation and subsequent monitoring of the annual budget to ensure that budget targets are met•Identification and implementation of new roles and team members including significant investments in training and team development•Expanding the capability and efficiency of the business including the establishment of the business’s first Regional Office•Review and implementation of new Quality Management System accredited to ISO9001•Implementation of new IT and innovation to aid the management of the business and increase efficiencies including the investment in, and integration of, BIM into the business which was recognised by the nomination for a nationally recognised RICS award for Best SME Newcomer•Attainment of a nationally recognised RoSPA H&S award for two consecutive years•Attainment of Regional LABC Building Excellence awards in both 2014 and 2015 including being a finalist for the National Awards for Best Large Commercial Building in 2015•Developed and expanded the existing Customer base to include notable blue chip clients as part of overall growth plans
