RespiraWorks is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with over 100 contributors worldwide working to rapidly develop, manufacture, and deploy a low-cost and open-source ventilator for communities under-served by the global supply chain.Most low-cost ventilator designs tackle the short-term bridge problem - a device, with common parts, that keeps someone alive for 6-8 hours of closely monitored care. However COVID-19 survivors require lung-protective adaptive ventilation strategies, and require ventilator support for days to weeks.Our product provides these premium features with an open-source design, an IEC-conformant quality process, and an optimized BOM for sourcing and manufacture in developing countries. I do embedded electrical design and field deployment for Frost Methane Labs' methane emissions solutions. We cap geological methane seeps to counter the significant damaging effects of methane on the climate, while generating high-impact, low-cost carbon offset credits. Every 1 ton of methane we capture is roughly equivalent to removing 25 tons of carbon emissions. I designed, built, and installed a thermal electric generating unit for one of our machines in the Alaskan Arctic.
