Recruited to serve as the lead wireless engineer for the United States Army Medical Information Technology Center (USAMITC) Medical Network Operations and Security Center (MEDNOSC). Successfully migrated over 3,000 multi-vendor wireless access points to Aruba AirWave Wireless Management Platform. This new capability allows for centralized management and standardization of wireless configurations. Ensured 99.9% availability, security, and integrity of the wireless network within the enterprise architecture. Personally created 20 customized rule-based classification schemes to determine when to contain rogue devices. Successfully designed and implemented a pure WPA2/802.11i/802.1x wireless network solution for the enterprise. Configured Aruba AP-125’s to CAC authenticate clients with Windows 7 native FIPS encryption. Primarily responsible for increasing healthcare provider satisfaction and efficiency, while mitigating threats to critical HIPAA information assets.

Handpicked by Capital Group Companies to convert VPN functionality from the Juniper SA4000 configuration to the newer Cisco ASA 5520 cluster. Gathered current and proposed Visio Diagrams with IP schemes outlining the firewall interfaces, DMZ’s, and routers. Personally designed the Cisco SSL VPN configuration to ensure secure login page consistency that resembled Juniper’s environment. Successfully programmed 12 Client-to-site VPN roles on the new Cisco SSL solution in less than one week. Provided engineering support during the Juniper to Cisco VPN cut-over, including user functionality testing with business critical applications. Coordinated an informal training session geared towards network administration and troubleshooting the SSL VPN solution as architected.

Charleston, South Carolina Area

Expertly configured and implemented the 2nd Generation Wireless Network (2GWLAN) at Charleston Air Force Base (AFB), SC. Seamlessly integrated the existing Air Force base infrastructure with Aruba 6000 Mobility Controllers, Aruba 65 & 70 access points, and Juniper Steel Belted Radius Servers. Successfully installed Juniper Odyssey Access Client on Dell 6400 and GD8000 Toughbooks to provide secure FIPS 140-2 encrypted wireless communications in core buildings and flight line areas. Programmed wireless clients to authenticate in accordance to the DoD PKI /Common Access Card (CAC) architecture. Directed radio propagation modeling and prediction, interference analysis, frequency coordination, and determination of access point placement based on RF modeling results for each building surveyed. Accurately performed Systems Acceptance Testing (SAT) on all networking equipment selected and identified by the Project Management Office. Conducted quality control (QC) inspections and captured screen shots that demonstrated functional wireless access points for each building being inspected. Proficiently configured Juniper Odyssey Access Client on mobile CK-61 and 700c Intermec Barcode terminals supporting government SATS, GATES, and DMLSS platforms.

Highly recruited to serve as a lead senior engineer on an $83 Million awarded contract to upgrade FBI networks across the country to include 640 Resident Agencies (RA) and 56 FBI Field Offices (FO). Primarily responsible for successful transition from the Asynchronous Transfer Mode(ATM)/Frame Relay(FR) architecture to the newer Internet Protocol(IP)/Multi-protocol Label Switching (MPLS) architecture throughout the entire FBI enterprise. Conducted a massive engineering pilot to duplicate the activities planned for the migration of over 900 private virtual circuits (PVC) currently in the FBI network. The pilot documented risk response plans, and evaluated resource requirements needed for the full migration and implementation effort. This pilot was a major success that ultimately saved the FBI $25K in unforeseen issues. Redesigned and configured the FBI WAN infrastructure, consisting of multiple Serial T1 and Dual Serial DS-3 circuits, Cisco 2811/3825/7204 routers with WAN accelerators, Cisco 6509/4006/3750 switches, CSU/DSU’s, TACLANE Micro encryption devices, and SFP’s/GBIC modules. Personally led a team of four engineers to 42 covert locations nationwide. Successfully configured network encryption, DMVPN tunnels, switched VLANs, and routing protocols in order to “hot cut” circuits to IP/MPLS with Verizon coordination. Tested and accepted the new circuits with Fluke’s EtherScope Series II Network Assistant to ensure that flexible per-region load balancing provided the most secure cost effective network operation.

Handpicked to lead a team of 14 personnel to troubleshoot and resolve a severe network latency affecting 4000+ users. Discovered and applied fix actions which resulted in a 35% increase of overall network performance while minimizing router utilization 37%. Constructed and oversaw a massive gigabit Ethernet backbone upgrade for Balad Air Base Iraq encompassing seven Information Transfer Nodes. Allowed for the first fully redundant fiber backbone and increased speed more than 100%. Directed a secure router network upgrade which saved the Air Force $10K in replacement costs. The new Micro TACLANE gateway design increased communication speed and infrastructure reliability 20%. Established inventory / tracking database for 2,000 devices residing on an $18M network. Maintained 100% accountability for assets spanned throughout 12 organizations and more than 5K end users. Coordinated a $2M Network Control Center expansion project for Air Force’s largest combat wing. Efforts increased telecommunication capabilities and reliability in direct support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Configured a $250K Base Education Center local area network upgrade. Trained eight personnel in advanced networking principals, cable installation and termination, and proper customer service. Designed and installed a network from the ground up at a geographically separated unit providing a secure VPN link for 30 personnel in less than two weeks.
