Gold Coast

Contracted in the position of marketing strategist for Gold Coast City Council’s Planning, Environment and Transport Directorate while the permanent person is seconded to a major project. Responsible for marketing, communication and engagement planning and implementation for a diverse folio including the Gold Coast Rapid Transit Corridor Study, Koala program, Heritage, Sustainable Flood Management, Centre Improvement Program, Urban Design and environmental protection.

During this time I was contracted by various Queensland State Government departments and agencies in marketing and communications roles including the previous Queensland Departments of Infrastructure and Planning (DIP) and Local Government, Sport and Recreation (Indigenous Eat Well Be Active campaign) and the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Commission where I developed extensive networks.While with DIP, I developed and delivered internal and external communication strategies for the delivery of five regional plans, including the South West, Maranoa and District, Central West, North West and Far North Queensland Regional Plans; and the Vulnerable Persons’ Accommodation Strategy. In this role I worked closely with regional and Brisbane planners to engage stakeholders in the development of the plans.

Cairns

Cape York Peninsula Development Association administered the majority of industry, tourism and natural resource management projects on Cape York. I was responsible for the development of a marketing and communication strategy, re-branding, media and public relations, online and offline communications, website upgrade, annual report, newsletter production and community engagement on Cape York for tourism, agriculture and Natural Heritage Trust/Natural Resource Management projects including the turtle program. The role placed me in regular contact with regional councils from Cairns to the tip of Cape York and a range of government state and federal agencies.

Cape York And Torres Strait

The role of AQIS Far North Public Awareness Officer carried direct responsibility for the communications, community engagement and public affairs activities for AQIS Far North, a region extending from Mackay to the outer islands of Torres Strait, with additional responsibilities in PNG and Canberra. Through this role; I had the privilege of working with TO’s and regional officers to develop Indigenous specific education and engagement campaigns. In 2011, I was nominated for the Northern Australia Quarantine Strategy ‘Hero Award’ for my public relations skills.
