As a local news anchor/reporter and a correspondent for CBS News, I played the role of the disarming #reporter - the one you thought would go easy on you - but instead asked you the one key question you hoped to avoid. That often meant I was successful at getting subject matter experts to say the words they would later regret. I'm really not mean. Honest. But that’s how reporters work. Good reporters know the information they want and how to ask the right questions to get it. This real world journalism experience makes me the ideal #media coach. I know how reporters think and act. Before I became a #media #trainer and #communications #consultant, I spent more than 15 years as an on-air news reporter, including seven years at CBS News. My time at the network took me to Capitol Hill, the North Lawn of the White House and to disasters such as the Break-up of Space Shuttle Columbia, the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and several tornadoes, wildfires and hurricanes. Throw in some anchoring and producing, and you get a good idea of the experience I bring to Rockford Gray clients.While I work with all of Rockford Gray’s clients, I've developed a #mediatraining program specifically for elected officials, government leaders, political candidates and members of the military. I loved working in Maine. I reported news daily (government, politics, crime, business ... you name it) and anchored evening and nightly news programs.

I anchored two and three-hour television morning news programs, conducted "live interviews" with guests on the anchor desk/set and worked as a general assignment reporter five days a week. While at KCRG, I covered stories related to life in the Midwest, government policy, education, agriculture, crime and politics. I particularly enjoyed covering the Iowa Caucus and interviewing the various candidates and other political figures who came through town stumping for themselves or key candidates.As an anchor I also served as a station spokesperson, appeared in parades and participated in other marketing assignments as requested.

While working in Rapid City, SD I was a jack of all trades: strategic planning, writing, scheduling, planning, more writing, producing, filming, editing, managing, reporting and anchoring. I even did the weather!
