👋🏼 Shawn is a passionate student in the biggest classroom of life. She loves challenging herself in new areas and learning new things about people, language and communication. Currently reading MA in Applied Lingusitics and TESOL, guaranteed an aspiring student that'll never see the world (and multilingualism) the same anymore. Psst.. Ask me about it!She's dipped a foot (and more) into the world of content creation, as she served the English badminton community as a Full Time Content Executive at the Badminton Association of England. Handled all things social media and content creation! The mission was to spread the love of badminton through engaging and fun content, encouraging more people to play 🏸Outside of the world of badminton, she has a Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) certification and has taught a range of learners including adult learners and 16-17 year old teenagers! She enjoys empowering individuals in the English language.She's previously set up a 6-week English Speaking Workshop in collaboration with SMK Chung Hua Miri 🗣 The goal? To equip 16-17 year olds with the confidence and clarity to speak and express in English. In her third year of uni, she taught English as an additional language to beginner-level adult learners who were under the care of a refugee and asylum-seekers charity. This was an eye-opening experience to witness the role of language in immigration, settlement, and second language learners. 🇲🇾 Served for two years in a row as President/Vice President of the Malaysian Association of Swansea University, overseeing the needs and welfare of the Malaysian student community in Swansea. 🏸 Grew up playing badminton competitively; former SUKMA participant; state representative, and competed for the University badminton team. 🇩🇰 Spent a gap year in Ikast, Denmark training in a local badminton club, learning their culture and most importantly, experiencing first-hand what its like NOT to know the first language of the environment you're in.
