In 1978 after leaving Peat Marwick Mitchell Graeme ventured out as a sole practitioner and commenced his own chartered accountancy practice at Springwood in the Blue Mountains. Between 1978 and 2004 the practice grew rapidly, focusing on a combination of traditional accounting and taxation services while developing expertise in management consulting for small business.Towards the end of this period Graeme recognised the need to go above and beyond traditional chartered accountancy services. It was at this time that Control Your Business was born.

In 1973 Graeme joined Peat Marwick Mitchell, one of the “big four” accounting practices of the seventies. For the next six years he progressed rapidly to become one of the youngest audit managers ever, prior to commencing his own Chartered Accountancy practice in 1978.
