Leading business transformation across our global operations with a multidisciplinary directorate including Project Management Office and Continuous Improvement teams, Technical Service which includes all technical support across our academic disciplines and primarily Digital Services comprising Operations, Development, Customer Services and Cyber Security, a subject close to my heart having lived breathed one of those moments.I serve as a trusted advisor to the executives and boards, defining and delivering digital transformation to support the academy, professional and commercial services.I work across all elements of the business executing strategic programmes driving the institution to deliver success to our students, out primary customers. Projects have included the transition of core IT to Software as a Service for financial management systems, human resources, student information systems as well as learning environments and the integrated communication and collaboration platforms. Leading on the definition and delivery of a cloud first platform, developing agility and flexibility in the way IT can respond with integrated, resilient and affordable solutions to the changing needs of the business.Previously, I worked with colleagues to develop drive and energy to make the difficult things possible. I have a reputation for my ability to boil down complexity, get to the heart of the issue and then work with colleagues to deliver to the business need, focussing on continuous improvement, not only of solutions, but the teams who build and support themThe first chapter of my career was spent in technology and in technical delivery of core services, engaging with stakeholders to develop innovative solutions to their business problems. The complex and diverse environments which support academic institutions allowed me to engage with people, process and technology to effect meaningful and long-lasting change. Life balance is important and outside of work I spend time in the pursuit of music. As a conductor and a brass musician I perform on various projects supporting groups and charities regionally and nationally. Royal Albert Hall on several occasions, music festivals such as Hardwick Live and the Sage Gateshead are all lose to my heart. Living in the North East I also make time to visit the beautiful coast and the hills of Northumberland to enjoy walking, photography and finding great food. I am also a Fellow of the British Computer Society and champion developments for all people as they engage with technology in their everyday lives.
