This is an elected position for the township and I receive and take charge of all funds belonging to the township, maintain records of all income, receipts, and disbursements, and do the financial statements for the township. I work with officials of Butler County, KS to prepare annual financial statements for county records and to track township expenditures. Governmental accounting standards are used in the preparation of these financial statements.I attend monthly meetings with other township officials and employees to discuss the affairs of the township and any issues with the roads or cemetery. These meetings are open to the public and often constituents will attend with comments on township matters that affect them.The position deals with payroll tax reporting, sales tax exemption requirements, GASB, governmental financial statement reporting, equipment purchasing and usage, road material purchasing, and other related matters for township management.

I served as tax manager at the firm overseeing the tax and bookkeeping departments and managing those under me. The position involved managing the relationship with our clients, the operational daily activities of the firm, and daily tax related work projects or financial statement and tax return preparation.I was actively involved with:-Financial statement preparation-Corporate, partnership, and individual tax return preparation-Specialized accounting for oil & gas companies-QuickBooks setup and management for clients-Tax delinquency cases often requiring either a federal Offer in Compromise, or state Petition for Abatement as we negotiate with Federal or State agents on behalf of clientsThe position required a close relationship with and knowledge of each client as we tailored our services to their accounting and business needs.
