In my spare time I lived the dream by riding motorcycles and writing about my experiences on them for British GQ, contributing over 100 articles, some of which were syndicated to international markets. I also freelanced for various other publications including CycleWorld, Common Tread (Revzilla), Bike Magazine, Fast Bikes Magazine, AutoSport and A Ride Apart.Highlights included riding the demo laps for BMW Motorrad at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in front of 100,000 spectators, interviewing Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali (and surviving), and riding Honda's RC213V-S.

I was headhunted by previous VCs to help Lovestruck achieve a number of goals in a short time-frame, namely:* Re-architecture of Lovestruck's entire front-end technology stack to a modern, mobile-first approach using html5, a python backend and responsive design* Re-architecture of all services to take advantage of a hybrid-cloud hosting setup, using edge caches (CDNs) to reduce latency and improve experience in Lovestruck's foreign markets* Introduction of CI/CD concepts for more reliable software releasesLovestruck was acquired by Datetix in 2016.

JustPark (formerly known as ParkAtMyHouse) is a peer-to-peer marketplace allowing people to rent out driveways and other convenient parking locations to drivers looking for safe and convenient parking - "find parking, wherever you need it"Technical:* Re-architected the business away from a monolithic co-located PHP-based design to use a series of micro-services written in Python, hosted on AWS.* Offboarded an offshore, contracted engineering team in favour of an in-house engineering team based in North London* Switched to an API led architecture which enabled an Android/iOS mobile app to work alongside a desktop, browser-based experience, as well as integration into BMW's iDrive in-car infotainment systemLeadership:* Revamped the p2p billing model by shifting from a post-invoice system to one where JustPark directly took and managed all payments, efficiently disbursing funds to parking providers and drivers.* Guided the company towards better data governance and compliance, examples include implementing storage encryption, PII obfuscation in logs and key-shredding in immutable stores* Moved the customer service solution from a in-house system to a improved off-the-shelf solution, allowing the company to focus on building only what it was good at* Ensured compliance and excellent technical architecture to facilitate further future investment, using my experience from prior exits, due diligence processes and investments.* Led and managed a team of engineers and product designers

From my bedroom and then university halls, I co-founded bit-tech.net which grew organically into an online publication for PC gaming, modding and hardware enthusiasts, read by millions per month worldwide.I am immensely proud that bit-tech was fully acquired by Dennis Publishing in 2008.Technical:• I architected and built bit-tech's highly performant publishing platform which scaled to serve millions of users per month. Along the way, as the business and readership scaled, I self-taught query tuning, performance architectures, load balancing with Apache, caching strategies using Memcached, and other vital approaches that big media properties still need and rely on to this day.* Everything in bit-tech's architecture (from the CMS and back-office functions, to the front-end) was built in-house, and by 2008 it was employing REST patterns, service architectures, responsibility and separation of concern implementations, and other advanced ideas (for 2008).Leadership:• Along with fellow co-founders, secured angel investment (in 2004) to build out a team of journalists, editors and web developers, who landed numerous industry exclusive stories while building and benefiting from a cutting-edge publishing platform.• Developed strategy (product, editorial and technical) enabled the readership to grow to millions of avid PC enthusiasts worldwide each month, carrying advertising from every major PC enthusiast brand.• Ensured that any technical implementations and solutions would be robust and professional enough for a larger acquiring company to be satisfied and impressed by in any due diligence process.Acquisition:• I left bit-tech when the business was fully acquired by Dennis Publishing in 2008, where it became the driving force of digital growth within Dennis's market-leading technology portfolio.
