I am an experienced software engineer who started in software testing and quality assurance. What does this result in? A developer who cares about the user experience of the code that he writes. My background includes developing, testing, security, user interface (UI) and user experience (UX), making me a well rounded developer. I think about what code should accomplish and the problem that needs to be solved, and try to anticipate possibilities that users or other developers will need. I most enjoy doing this while working on a team that shares a common goal as I believe this is what typically yields the best results. I began my software development career after completing my degree at Oregon Institute of Technology in 2012. Before that, I had 7 years of software testing and quality assurance, which included test automation in various languages. At this point in my career, with 4 years of software development, I believe I’m in a prime position to be a great mentor to a junior developer. I welcome continued mentoring for professional growth.Most recently, I have been professionally using Java, AngularJS and MySQL, in addition to JavaScript (Vanilla and jQuery), HTML, and CSS (including some SASS) in the background. I also have previous experience coding in C#, PHP, and some C++. I also have an interest in mobile development. At the end of the day, software development is about more than programming languages or syntax, which is why I take a vested interest in learning new languages and technologies to find the best solution. To this end, I’m currently exploring machine learning and big data concepts to continue to grow personally and professionally.
