Looking for casual work around uni hours, during the past year I have worked as a lifeguard at the Cambridge Perry Aquatic Centre, as well as at the Te Awamutu Livingstone Aquatic Centre. My main responsibility was to keep everyone in and around the pool safe, requiring a high level of attention to detail, as well as being alert and active for long periods of time. I also helped with customer relations, answering any questions customers have or to assist them according to their needs. I was highly involved, working as a small team of 4-8 people, maintaining close communication and constant updates. I was regularly trained to recognise small signs in peoples behaviour, as well as to react under pressure and keep a level head at all times. This experience will be beneficial in any role in which close attention is required, as well as high levels of communication and teamwork.

I started working for Fiasco during the pandemic in 2020, as they were pivoting their business from building high-quality cases for transporting music and touring equipment - which has quickly become a dead industry for the time being, into designing and building desks for the work-from-home environment. I worked closely with the founder, and as a part of a small, close knit team, based both in Cambridge and in Los Angeles, in order to promote and coordinate sales across New Zealand and North America. My duties involved optimising search engine optimisation, ensuring the workfromhomedesks.com website featured more prominently across google, as well as designing blog articles and social media posts to engage with customers and capture new interest, as well as communicating directly with customers as part of the customer support team, both on New Zealand and American side of the business. I worked closely with the US team to resolve customer issues and offer solutions. This taught me a lot about operating an online business and working remotely with a small, effective team covering a large area involving many different cultures. I learned how to navigate cultural differences when promoting both the New Zealand and US websites, as well as when helping US and Kiwi customers with any issues or questions they might have.

I joined RH Innovation as a startup company in 2018, managing all marketing and design work for the company, as well as pitching the company to potential investors and working with a small team to develop new and innovative technology in the agritech sector, using artificial intelligence in order to monitor and regulate soil moisture and PH levels, and providing farmers with recommendations allowing for the most efficient use of water and chemicals when growing crops. As part of this role, we pitched to companies such as Gallagher, Kokiri, Soda inc, and the University of Auckland student investors club. Through this experience, I learnt a lot about the startup industry, as well as working as a small, close-knit team with effective communication and teamwork. As part of this team, we won the WINTEC Startup Bootcamp 2019, taking home $10,000 from the ASB Best Startup prize among competition from 20 other up-and-coming businesses from across the country
