Zen-Noh Grain Corporation trades and exports corn, soybeans, sorghum, wheat, and byproducts from its state-of-the-art export elevator located at mile 164 on the Mississippi River in Convent, LA to Japan and other global markets. ZGC also has grain origination interests in Canada and Brazil, and a forage processing business in Pasco, WA. Major Achievements:• Reduced the injury rate to 1/3 of prior performance implementing SafeOperations training, leadership mentoring, and culture change throughout the organization. • Led a “first of its kind” Capital Project to add robust marine protection infrastructure which enhanced business continuity and avoided large business interruption costs. • Involved in the acquisition and integration of 35 operating assets (grain elevators) and 13 idle facilities including a DOJ required divestiture of 9 facilities.

Leading teams with over 240 employees at the world’s fastest and largest grain export elevator, a hay processing business, logistics services personnel and establishing a world class safety culture. Report to the VP of Operations.Major Achievements:• Achieved 14 new production records in a yearlong period due to operational process improvements – adding over 23% in operational capacity and new revenue opportunities.• Reduced operating costs by increasing each facility’s mechanical reliability and uptime at minimal cost which also facilitated more facility revenue generating potential.• Eliminated annual marine support contractor costs through improved coordination, training, and process standardization with existing personnel and negligible cost(s).

Managing all business functions of an enterprise with 350 employees and over 1,000 nested contractors by providing strategic and daily leadership for the company by working with the company’s Board. The business consisted of: Stevedoring with 12 deep-draft ship berths and 12 high-speed, high-capacity floating cranes and the floating grain elevator America, a Sales Team, a Logistics Group, 6 Shipyards, 8 Barge Fleets capable of holding over 2,000 barges, over 29 Inland Towboats, and Support Services. Cooper Consolidated is the most experienced and well established asset-based provider of midstream stevedoring, barge, marine, and logistics services throughout the U.S. inland waterway system.Major Achievements:• Purchased 2 AmClyde cranes for a discounted price to replace older, less efficient assets. • Successfully negotiated the purchase of a competitor’s fleet (assets & real estate) to incrementally grow the company’s largest earning barge fleet. • Reduced annual labor costs through reducing unnecessary overtime in the shipyards and stevedoring groups. • Developed a flat dockage revenue structure in the stevedoring group that better aligned export grain customer interests with our own while at the same time increasing net proceeds.

Full P&L, commercial and operational management of 4 barge fleets, 14 inland towboats/tugs, and 3 shipyard facilities along the Lower Mississippi River with over 50 employees and 250 nested contractors. Report to the Executive Director. Major Achievements:• Developed a regional traffic queue management process (routing lineboat tows) that resulted in improved customer service, internal cost reductions, and a new revenue source.• Modernized a shipyard that was consistently underachieving through process improvements, eliminating an unprofitable service line, and deliberate CapEx spending. This resulted in a complete financial turnaround of the facility.• Merged the operations of two different companies to establish a unified culture, operating philosophy, and better coordinated logistics for the customers in my region.• Acquired and integrated the operations of two new barge fleets with 3 towboats into our service offering.

Full P&L and commercial responsibility over the company's Convent area marine service businesses which consisted of a shipyard, barge fleet, tank barge cleaning facility and 7 inland towboats with 35 employees and over 120 nested contractors. CGB Enterprises Inc. is headquartered in Covington, LA, and operates a vast network of grain facilities across the Midwest. In addition to grain facilities, CGB Enterprises, Inc. has dedicated operations in logistics and transportation, agri-finance, soybean processing, producer risk management, and other related businesses.Major Achievements:• Reduced annual expenditures significantly to one of our largest service providers through standardizing repeatable processes (and decision-making) with our towboat captains.• Negotiated the lease of 3 and the purchase of 2 new properties to expand the fleet’s storage & utilization capacity. This facilitated additional revenue that couldn’t be realized before due to capacity limitations. It also increased working efficiencies through creating more operating space during off-peak periods which reduced operating costs. • Within one year of being hired, recommended the divestiture of an unprofitable business after thorough analysis showing it was critically disadvantaged. Sold the unprofitable facility to a competitor.

P&L responsibilities over a $170M+ business directing the operations, maintenance, and EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) of a marine tank terminal with 192 storage tanks and over 3M barrels of storage capacity (Chemicals, Vegetable Oils, Oil Field, Alcohols, Animal Fats, Diesels and Renewable Fuels). Lead a team of over 70 personnel. Report to the Regional Manager/Director. Kinder Morgan is the largest independent terminal operator in North America, providing a strong, reliable network of 144 terminals serving its customers’ storage, distribution, blending and logistical needs. KM terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils and other products.Major Achievements:• Eliminated labor costs in excess of $400K per year by upgrading 6 tank truck loading stations with automation or equipment upgrades, where possible. These upgrades unlocked additional volume throughput capacity of the facility equivalent to over $5M in additional revenues.• Awarded a 5-year contract worth over $50M in revenue after successfully proving our capability to implement the process for a stable production, blending, and storage of a proprietary product.• Consistently met CapEx budget targets or spent less than expected equaling over $1M in savings on an annual basis. CapEx projects ranged from replacing or renewing storage tanks ($100K - $5M) or building out / modifying infrastructure in support of new business ($50K - $1M).

Managing a $15M P&L with operations, maintenance, commercial, and EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) responsibilities for a marine liquid & dry bulk terminal (Petcoke, Phosphate Rock, Fluorspar, Sulfuric Acid, Phosphoric Acid, Molten Sulfur, Nitric Acid, Anhydrous Ammonia, etc.) with over 40 employees. Major Achievements:• Reduced operating costs by $300K per year by identifying problem areas and personnel and proactively resolving those through process changes, coaching, and establishing better controls in the stevedoring and rail groups.• Identified significant gaps in regulatory training requirements (DOT & OSHA) for the staff that could have cost the company in excess of $400K in potential fines and resolved those issues within 45 days. • Earned $9M revenue in a guaranteed 3-year contract with our biggest customer through turnaround leadership at the facility that dramatically reduced the number of quality issues and safety injuries/incidences from occurring. The company was on the cusp of losing this contracted business prior to my tenure.

Managing eleven training courses, each course being taught several times a year. Trained a total of approximately 3,400 students each year. These courses included courses for conducting heliborne, boat, and mechanized company-sized raids along with the technical skills required for each activity such as Urban Sniper, Boat Coxswain, Helicopter Rope Suspension Techniques, Navigation, Operational Planning, etc. with a staff of over 20 instructors.Major Achievements:• Facilitated higher levels of performance for over 21 trained 200 man units during their MEU (Marine Expeditionary Unit) scenario-based training evaluation exercises. Conducted numerous course content reviews to update and improve existing instruction based off relevant real world combat experience. • Improved the training value in each course by creating realistic scenario/situational based exercises which resulted in a significant increase in students’ performance during evaluation exercises and an overall improvement in combat readiness.

Leading 77 Marines and Corpsmen in combat training and deployments with 17 humvees, 6 Javelin anti-tank systems, 6 TOW missile anti-tank systems, 16 heavy and medium machine guns, and various small arms, munitions, communications and ancillary equipment. Major Achievements:• Planned and executed over 450 combat motorized missions while in Iraq and Haiti, including the initial seizure of the Haitian Presidential Palace and fending off the insurgent attack on Abu Ghurayb Prison in 2005. • Protected 2 vital Main Supply Routes linking Baghdad to US military bases in the Iraq theater of operations through route clearance from threats of insurgent attacks or IED’s. • Planned, coordinated, and executed numerous successful security details for the interim Prime Minister of Haiti, the U.S. Ambassador to Haiti, and senior military officials following violence/rebellion caused by the abdication of the president in 2004.

Leading 46 Marines and Corpsmen in combat training and deployments. Employed 6 SMAW anti-tank systems, 3 60MM mortar systems, 6 medium machine guns, and various small arms, munitions, communications and ancillary equipment. Also, served as the company’s Fire Support Team Leader responsible for training, planning, and coordinating close air support, artillery, mortar, and naval gunfire in support of various combat operations.Major Achievements:• Increased the level of tested skill(s) proficiency for all machine gunners and mortarmen in the battalion by over 25%. Planned and supervised all aspects of the battalion’s live fire 60mm mortar and machine gun training packages during a month-long period (over 110 personnel trained) to increase combat readiness and proficiency. Training included live-fire exercises, field exercises, employment considerations, pre- and post-operation checks/services, communications, and small unit leadership.
