David Cooperrider is the Covia | David L. Cooperrider Chair for Appreciative Inquiry at the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University where he is faculty director of the Fowler Center for Sustainable Value. He also holds a second endowed chair: the Char and Chuck Fowler Professor of Business as an Agent of World Benefit. David is best known for his pioneering theory on Appreciative Inquiry and has served as advisor to senior executives in business and societal leadership roles, including projects with five Presidents such as William Jefferson Clinton, and Nobel Laureates such as His Holiness the Dalai Lama and President Oscar Arias of Costa Rica. David has published 15 books and authored over 50 articles and serves as editor of both the Journal of Corporate Citizenship with Ron Fry and the research series for Advances for Appreciative Inquiry, with Michel Avital. In 2010 David was awarded the Peter F. Drucker Distinguished Fellow by the Drucker School of Management—a designation recognizing his contribution to management thought. Today AI’s approach to strengths-based and life-centric-- instead of problematizing organization development and deficit-based change-- is being practiced everywhere: the corporate world, the world of public service, of economics, of education, of faith, of philanthropy, and social science scholarship—it is affecting them all. Cooperrider is a Distinguished University Professor with two endowed chairs, including the Covia—David L. Cooperrider Professorship for Appreciative Inquiry, at Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management. David serves as an advisor to heads of state, governors, mayors, UN Secretary Generals, and CEO’s throughout the world, including projects with five Presidents and Nobel Laureates such as Bill Clinton, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Kofi Annan and others. The recipient of “The Lifetime Achievement Award” in the field of Organization Development, the Peter F.
