Philip Copeland is an experienced serial technology entrepreneur and investor in start-up and early stage growth companies in Australia and internationally. Most recently Philip was a Co-founder & CEO of Avoka Technologies - an Australian Fintech startup that was sold to Temenos in Dec 2018. Philip started three separate software company's since commencing work in the computing industry in the early 1980's. During that time he has focused on enterprise computing, application architecture & development, software sales and distribution in both Australia and the United States. Philip retired in 2019 and enjoys spending time sailing his Seawind Catamaran and investing & assisting early stage software startups in both Australia and North America.

Jarrah quickly became the leading vendor of Client Server application development tools, education and specialist consulting services throughout Australia. The company serviced a large number of Australia’s blue chip corporate and government organisations. As Managing Director, Mr. Copeland played a hand’s-on role in driving product sales and building and delivering the service’s offered by the firm. The company was entirely self funded and grew to 70 employees with offices in Sydney, Canberra & Melbourne. Jarrah distributed products from Gupta Technologies, Logic Works, Pinnacle Publishing and Bits per Second. The Australian market was one of the most successful locations for Gupta worldwide and Jarrah became one of their largest and most successful partners.At Jarrah, Mr. Copeland also conceived and developed TeamWindows, a repository based Team Programming product. TeamWindows was incorporated into Gupta Technologies SQLWindows product under a world wide distribution agreement. In 1994 SQLWindows (incorporating TeamWindows) was awarded Byte Magazines Application Development tool of the year. In 1995 Mr. Copeland accepted an offer by the leading distributed computing vendor Open Environment Corporation to acquire Jarrah Technologies. Shortly after the sale Mr. Copeland was appointed CEO of Open Environment Corporation and relocated to Boston, MA where he oversaw the acquisition of OEC by Borland International.
