Works as a writer, educator, and president at Copywrite, Ink., a strategic communication firm with experience on more than 1,000 accounts, including City of Henderson, Fidelity Investments, March Of Dimes, McDonald’s, U.S. Air Force, and Volkswagen. Currently, he is working with youth sports coaches, and teams, trainers; assisting the largest privately-owned traffic management company in Nevada. He recently assisted the Council of Multiple Listing Services in support of its mission to build a better marketplace.As a journalist, Becker has written hundreds of articles, with his byline appearing in the Denver Post, Los Angeles Times, and publications for Simon & Schuster and Paramount. He scripted a PBS documentary and contributed to five books, including: “Beyond Generation X: A Practical Guide for Managers” and the American Ambulance Association’s “Public Relations Handbook.”He has also taught writing, marketing, and public relations classes at UNLV for almost 20 years and has assisted more than 60 nonprofit organizations, including as a governor-appointed state commissioner for Nevada Volunteers (AmeriCorps) for nine years and as an examiner on the IABC International Accreditation Board for 12 years.

He has received numerous awards: Addys, EMAs, and Bronze Quills for writing, creative, and strategic direction. He has earned distinction as WIC Agency Support Person of the Year (1997), IABC/Las Vegas Communicator of the Year (1998), Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Community Achievement Award winner (1999), and WIC Agency/Production/Public Relations Principal of the Year (2001).

 He assisted the City of Henderson in winning its first National Gold Medal Award in 1999 and led IABC/Las Vegas to be named International Chapter of The Year in 2000. He also writes fiction from time to time. He is the award-winning, best-selling author of 50 States, a collection of short stories; best-selling 10-story companion Ten Threads; and upcoming debut novel, Third Wheel.

His debut coming-of-age thriller, Third Wheel, has won six literary awards, including second place in the 2024 BookFest Awards, Five-Star Literary Titan Award, Five-Star Readers' Favorite Award, Book Excellence Award, and finalist awards in the American Best Book Awards and Global Book Awards. It broke into the top 20 literary thrillers on Amazon in November 2023.Prior to Third Wheel, his debut collection of literary fiction and psychological thrillers began as a project to write one story a week for 50 weeks. The collection, 50 States, broke into the top 100 literary short story collections on Amazon for three consecutive months. It also won first place in the 2022 ABR Book Excellence Awards, 2022 BookFest Awards, and 2023 Book Excellence Awards. It was also a finalist in the 2022 IAN Book of the Year Awards. In 2022, he followed up 50 States with a brisk, best-selling 10-story companion to 50 States called Ten Threads.He is currently working on his second novel and several short stories.

Serves as a City Council-appointed volunteer commissioner on the Las Vegas Parks And Recreation Advisory Commission, which provides citizen input and makes recommendations on matters pertaining to parks and recreation for the City of Las Vegas. Represented the City of Las Vegas as a featured speaker during the National Recreation and Park Association 2015 Annual Conference and was reappointed to serve through 2025. Elected Chair of the Commission, 2023. Currently working with the department and Councilwoman Victoria Seaman's office on establishing a city-run middle school league to better engage student-athletes.

Served as Coach of the Doral Academy Red Rock Varsity softball team, NIAA 4A Academic State Champions in 2022 and Runners Up in 2024. Developed the program from the ground up, securing funds, writing the player's handbook and sponsorship kits, launching a newsletter and social media presence, planning all practices, scheduling games and tournaments, starting a hit club and an intramural program, setting the lineup, and coaching a group of players with minimal or no softball experience to secure a spot in the state championships in all three years. Took the team to state for three years, continually improving thier rank and finishing fifth in the state in our third year as a program. Made a positive impact on the lives of student-athletes on and off the field, helping them improve their grades and life choices as much as their skills.

Taught several continuing education and professional development courses related to marketing, public relations, and communication. All classes included continuing education credits and several were core requirements for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Public Relations Certificate Program.He helped develop an independent Certificate Program for Integrated Marketing Communications, but the program was placed on hold during the pandemic. Previously, he taught about four continuing education classes per semester, which ranged from half-day workshops to immersive 10-week programs. He developed all classes.

Published and managed a multi-media alternative review site in the entertainment and lifestyle industry. The publication provides exclusive interviews and reviews focused on cool, not popular under the topic banners of music, books, fashion, lifestyle, gadgets, applications, software, travel, and goodwill. The online publication was founded in 2010 with an immediate circulation of 500. Within 10 years, it was grown into a publication with more than 50,000 readers per month, and an engaged audience on several social networks. It worked with several major brands, providing direct links to products. The publication is on an indefinite hiatus (since 2020), but remains an asset of Copywrite, Ink.

Served as director of communication for the Council of Multiple Listing Services, which is the professional trade organization that advances the MLS industry through unified leadership, cooperation, and education in North America.In this role, Becker facilitated, defined, and directed all aspects of the strategic communication plan, long-term communication goals, content creation and specialty publications, communication management and message consistency, public relations and executive presentations. As an extension of the mission and vision, his plans and practices were instrumental in meeting the objectives of the organization, in demonstrating its purpose within the real estate industry, and in the advancement of the MLS industry. He also created a one-of-kind sponsorship package that resulted in generating more revenue than any conference in the history of the organization.Between 2015 and 2019, CMLS solidified its position within the industry, increased member engagement, improved member value, set attendance records at conferences, established new collaborative efforts within the private and public sectors, promoted industry best practices, and advanced solutions to build a better marketplace. Becker continued to serve as a retained consultant through 2021 and now provides contract work as needed.

Served as a Governor-appointed state commissioner for Nevada Volunteers - AmeriCorps Nevada (formerly Nevada Commission for National and Community Service, Inc.), which administered AmeriCorps programs in Nevada and is responsible for building a collaborative infrastructure to support volunteer efforts across the state. After being appointed to the commission by Governor Kenny Guinn in 2001, Becker has chaired several committees, including communication, fundraising, and board development. He also served as a board officer for five years, including vice chair, and co-chaired the Governor's Points of Light Award for three years.

Developed, published, and managed an international trade publication for hospitality management and professional concierge. The publication provided exclusive interviews, information, editorial, and news to the Southern Nevada Hotel Concierge Association, select Les Clefs d'Or members (worldwide), and other key decision makers within the hospitality industry.Grew the publication from an 8-page newsletter with circulation of 500 to a 20-page trade publication with a combined circulation of 10,000. Developed a talent pool of more than 40 writers worldwide. The publication was sold in 2003.

While freelancing for several publications, wrote reviews, columns, and general editorials as a staff writer for What's On. Also assisted with the publication's promotional efforts and developed three award-winning series.
