Involved in all aspects of the corporate development process: Market analysis to identify market opportunities; competitor valuation analysis to identify potential acquisition targets; detailed analysis and due diligence of potential acquisition targets; post merger integration and identification of divestment opportunities. As the organization expanded, and the need for management information increased, I led the implementation of a management reporting system providing operations managers access to their financial performance with drill down capability into their revenue and cost drivers. Within the corporate development group I was also significantly involved in the risk management function where I focused on areas such as market risk, piracy prevention, collision risk and counterparty risk.

In 2005, I set up the derivatives department for OSG which included the selection and implementation of trading software, development of detailed policy and procedure documents and presentation of these to the audit committee, interactions with OSG Senior Management, trading partners, brokers, and other internal and external constituents. In monthly meetings, I presented hedging strategies to Senior Management and performed the actual implementation of these strategies. When the company decided to trade a proprietary book, I recommended appropriate risk controls for the proprietary books and monitored the trading positions (options and swaps) on a daily basis to ensure they remained within established risk guidelines.

Analyzed shipping investments or divestments, and identify opportunities for OSG to improve its financial performance. Analyses include M&A analysis and DCF analysis of investment and divestment projects. I developed the systems that were used for budget preparation, variance analysis and quarterly projections.

Coordinated and participated in a number of strategic planning and market analysis projects for the crude and product tanker markets. These projects included development of global and regional oil demand and supply projections, and forecasting shifts in trade flows and tanker demand. Tanker demand combined with tanker supply projections were then translated into freight rate forecasts using regression analyses.

Analyzed dry bulk shipping markets to support investment decisions. Involved in development of an integrated decision support system linking market forecasting with financial projections.
