About Cora Carmody

I have been the Chief Information Officer and highest-ranking technology executive at successively larger and more global companies. The CIO position is key in improving profitability through lowering the overhead costs of IT, improving the company’s cash profile, and supporting organic growth activities. Our IT organization was instrumental in the transformation of SAIC from an ESOP to a publicly traded company, supporting the company’s IPO process by migrating our internal stock management system. At Jacobs, I selected and led multi-functional teams in the due diligence of two acquisitions and my organization was responsible for integration of 5 major acquisitions.Protecting enterprise personnel, assets and intellectual property is key to enterprise success and core to the role of a CIO, while being the face of those protections to Audit Committees. My organizations have remediated significant and material weaknesses in attaining and maintaining regulatory compliance such as Sarbanes-Oxley. We implemented extensive defense in depth programs. The programs and policies designed to protect against multiple cyber-attack vectors must never stagnate – the threat only grows. The SEC has highlighted cybersecurity expertise as a growing board necessity and recognizes the CERT Certification in Cyber-Risk Oversight as a credential that may be included in company filings as a demonstration of board responsibility. The breadth of my technological experience is not common for independent directors, the need for which has increased significantly in importance. My background as a CIO brings expertise in enterprise technologies, in the threat of intrusion and in the resolution of technical debt. Other experience includes technologies such as intelligent automation, artificial intelligence, and the internet of things.I founded and chair a STEM non-profit, Technology Goddesses™ in 2002, giving every age group a chance to be mentored and to be mentors. We continue to grow the depth and scope of the technologies we teach within programming and engineering disciplines, in 2021 we introduced age-appropriate artificial intelligence. In 2020 I was named to the board of Gresham, Smith & Partners, a private architecture, engineering, and design firm and to the Innovation Advisory Group and Governance Committee. In 2023 I was named a strategic advisor of Ardhi Digital. Their mission is to provide methods, tools, and data to comprehensively assess environmental impacts and provide alternatives in support of an impactful low carbon strategy and evidenced based reporting.
