AP’s engineering technicians assist professional engineers in myriad ways, including analysis of existing systems and new system designs, managing and/or assisting with the design and construction phases of projects, providing modeling for various types of projects, providing construction oversight, preparing reports and studies, inspecting facilities, assisting with land acquisition, and interfacing with clients, the public, and landowners.

I was an intern for Dr. Ricardo Sanchez-Murillo at Universidad Nacional (UNA) with advising from Dr. John Selker (Oregon State University). Dr. Sanchez-Murillo received his pHD at the University of Idaho (2009) and specializes in isotope hydrology. My position involved traveling around the country to collect field samples in order to learn more about the hydrology of Costa Rica as well as research conducted by myself and a peer from Oregon State University. At this time, there is little technology for collecting accurate isotope samples. We researched the possibility of collecting samples in airtight bags with negligible vapor diffusion. We tested our sampling method by utilizing the stable isotope lab at UNA and Oregon State University.
