Quality Engineer is an integral part of the Powertrain Manufacturing organization and will ensure that all products meet customer and company requirements. Responsible for developing quality processes and methodologies, including quality/control plans and ensures products meet their specification. Responsible for driving continual product and process improvement. Works with Design, Manufacturing, and Operations to address and improve quality/reliability and manufacturability issues. This is a very hands-on individual contributor role with duties focused primarily in support of on-floor activities and must be intimately familiar with the detailed behavior of these electro-mechanical assemblies and the tools and equipment used in their manufacture.Responsibilities·Work closely with manufacturing and suppliers to establish processes and procedures that will ensure consistent high quality.·Establish and maintain product quality plans and control plans.·Establish quality performance metrics and drive issues to root cause solutions.·Work with Manufacturing Engineering to determine product specifications and tolerances.·Audit manufacturing line against released manufacturing processes and procedures.·Monitor quality, determine root cause of problems, and implement corrective actions and countermeasures.·Participate in continuous improvement activities, with manufacturing and external suppliers.·Work with Supply Quality Engineering and Suppliers to develop specifications that support production requirements.·Take part in ongoing optimization of the products with respect to both cost and production technology.·Drive FMEA activities to ensure design and manufacturing issues are identified and risks mitigated.·Provide Design for Manufacturability feedback to Engineering as well as participate in DFM reviews.·Analyze and disposition component and product defects as member of the Material Review Board.

• Plan, organize, direct and perform all supplier quality related activities within supply chain team for assigned commodities, including identification of risk and mitigation.• Assist suppliers in quality assurance processes and procedures to facilitate continuous improvement of supplier and product performance.• Perform troubleshooting with supplier to resolve issues. Status and approve SCAR responses to supplier quality issues and verify the effectiveness of supplier actions on subsequent product inspections/receipts/visits.• Implement lean manufacturing techniques like 5S and Poka-Yoke on manufacturing line.• Develop and implement quality standards and product quality plans as part of the Tesla Quality System to assure products will meet expectations of our target customers.• Support the development of FMEAs to identify critical risks to be addressed. • Manage and facilitate issue resolution for Final Assembly incl. root cause investigation and corrective action tracking.• Work closely with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, and Supply Chain teams.• Support Supercharger Network Field Quality Program• Work in cross functional teams to determine root cause of problems, and implement corrective actions and countermeasures.• Audit manufacturing line against standardized manufacturing processes and procedures.• Assist in the identification and resolution of manufacturing quality issues. Process and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) as required.
