Bagdad, Arizona

Interned in the Long Range Mine Planning group at the Bagdad mine, an open pit copper mine. The main project of the position was to provide a scoping level determination for the amount of soil cover that will be necessary at the end of mine life. Other duties of the position included assuming Weekly Dump Planning and instructing the New Hire Engineer.

Oro Valley, Arizona

Interned at the Central Mine Planning Office as a Strategic Planning Engineer. The main duty of the position was to join a team of engineers and create pushback and haulage designs in MineSight.

Elko, Nevada

Interned as a Short Term Plan Mining Engineer at the Emigrant gold mine, an open pit heap leaching operation. Tasks of the position included creating daily dig progress maps in Vulcan, rectifying haul truck load reporting, working with survey in the field, and Kriging shot muck. The main project of the position was to create monthly and quarterly projections in Vulcan for the leach pad progression for the life of the mine.

Elko, Nevada

Interned as an underground Mine Engineer at the Exodus and Pete Bajo gold mines. The main project of the position was to work on and assist in the improvement of the mines’ backfill. The work included conducting field experiments, testing samples, analyzing data, and working with contractors. Other duties of the position included basic design work in Vulcan, updating equipment permits and shadowing operations.

Tempe, Arizona

Worked in the Fuels Department aiding in the creation of Fuel Supply Agreements, which are agreements between mining companies and SRP to supply coal to the coal fired power-generating stations. Duties of the position included analyzing plant data, mine plan and capital expenditure analysis, as well as meeting with coal company officials around the country to negotiate details of the contracts.
