• Utilized Python to implement unsupervised machine learning techniques to observe the effects of warming waters and climate change on marine life. Hypothesis testing, linear regression, and a variety of visualizations such as scatter plots, maps, and 3D graphs were used to find relationships between the water characteristics in our datasets.• Collected data along the California coast by CalCOFI and analyzed water characteristics at different locations over time and various fish larva species abundances. Explored El Niño’s effects on ocean temperature, species abundance, PH levels, salinity, and ocean depth.• Found a strong correlation between ocean temperature, PH levels, and salinity. Linear regression models indicated there was a highly positive correlation between ocean temperature and PH levels (0.86) and a highly negative correlation between salinity and PH levels (-0.895), and ocean temperature and salinity (-0.815).• Collaborated with Data Science graduate students and other interns to explore the relationship between pH and larval fish assemblage off of California with CalCOFI to research the effects of climate change.• Built data visualizations such as heat-maps to showcase the change in California Anchovies abundance throughout the seasons over many years.
